The Cabinet of Ministers amended the mine action operational plan
February 27, 2026
The Government has updated the operational plan for the implementation of the National Mine Action Strategy until 2033. The adopted changes are aimed at updating the responsible authorities for the implementation of part of the activities in the sector and optimising the tasks and measures in the field of mine action.
"After the reorganisation of the Ministry of Reintegration, which was responsible for information activities aimed at reducing the impact of explosive ordnance on people's lives and activities, it was necessary to determine the responsible body for this area. This function was taken over by the Centre for Humanitarian Demining. The CHD will also be responsible for implementing the prioritisation system for contaminated territories that must be demined, taking into account economic, social, and security importance," summarised the results of the meeting Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The territory prioritisation system is expected to become operational by the end of 2026. The project will be implemented with funds from donors and international organisations.
The operational plan also included a task to increase assistance to victims of explosive ordnance. This will be done with the involvement of donor assistance.
In addition, the 2022 operational action plan for mine action has lost its validity. The document ceased to be relevant after the adoption of the National Mine Action Strategy in 2024.
More than 50 stakeholders in the field of mine action participated in the development of the draft changes: representatives of executive authorities, regional military administrations, mine action operators, and international organisations.
