Canada increases funding for mine action in Ukraine

One of the world leaders in the field of robotic systems for humanitarian demining, the Croatian company DOK-ING, is opening its office in Kyiv. Ukraine is one of the key users of DOK-ING demining machines, and the opening of the office will help properly coordinate efforts in mine action between Ukraine and Croatia. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko during the office opening ceremony.

"We highly value the support that Croatia provides to Ukraine. Currently, 45 Croatian DOK-ING demining machines are operating in Ukraine, which have helped clear more than a thousand hectares of Ukrainian land. I hope that the opening of the office in Kyiv will be the beginning of even closer cooperation and our sappers will be able to learn in Ukraine how to operate and maintain these machines," stated Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The State Emergency Service utilizes the most DOK-ING equipment. Their vehicle fleet includes 10 MV-4 light demining machines and 14 MV-10 heavy demining machines. Croatian demining machines are also handled by the State Special Transport Service (SSTS), humanitarian demining operators, and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Out of 45 DOK-ING machines currently functioning in Ukraine — 8 were manufactured specifically at the Ukrainian plant, which is a partner of the Croatian company.

"For us, it is very important that part of the DOK-ING equipment is produced directly in Ukraine, as this means simultaneously new jobs, additional budget revenues, and support for the economy. Furthermore, manufacturing equipment in Ukraine shortens domestic delivery times and facilitates logistics when repairs are required. All of this ultimately quickens the pace of demining and saves millions of lives," added Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The Ukrainian company A3TECH carries out the semi-knocked-down assembly of DOK-ING demining machines with partial localization: part of the working tool is already structurally manufactured in Ukraine, and by the end of the year, the enterprise is ready to bring its localization level up to 100%.

This year the company domestically produced eight localized heavy demining machines MV-10, six of which have already been transferred to the SSTS.

DOK-ING manufactures both light and heavy robotic machines for demining and the disposal of explosive ordnance. Thanks to a low profile and solid structure, such equipment is resistant to detonations of anti-personnel mines and unexploded ordnance and withstands an anti-tank mine explosion. DOK-ING machines are governed by a remote control, with an operating range of up to 1500 meters.

For reference: The issue of humanitarian demining is coordinated by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine — Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko. The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine ensures the interaction of central executive authorities on mine action issues regarding humanitarian demining.
