October 18, 2024
Switzerland will host the third partner coordination workshop on mine action in Ukraine. The workshop will bring together key donors and organisations to review progress and align priorities for the coming period.
"The coordination workshops in Geneva have become an important mechanism for aligning international support with Ukraine's needs. Switzerland has generously agreed to host the third workshop, which confirms the importance of this format," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The workshop programme will include a review of the implementation of the National Mine Action Strategy, a discussion of priorities and challenges, and coordination of donor funding to avoid duplication and ensure comprehensive coverage.
"Effective coordination of donor support is critical for maximising the impact of invested resources. The workshop format allows for a deep discussion of priorities and a joint action plan," noted the Swiss representative.
Previous workshops in Geneva helped align donor efforts and produce concrete recommendations for improving coordination. Several initiatives launched at previous workshops have already been implemented.
"Switzerland remains one of the most active and engaged partners in the field of mine action. Hosting the coordination workshops is an important contribution to ensuring effective international support," emphasised the Deputy Minister.
