Coordination platform for cooperation with international partners in humanitarian demining
The Sectoral Working Group (SWG) on humanitarian demining is an advisory body of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine that functions as a single, permanent platform for coordinating and harmonizing cooperation in humanitarian demining with development partners.
The SWG was established in September 2023. Since then, three SWG meetings have been held: in September, December 2023, and May 2024.
Key Objectives
Attracting Partner support for priority needs and tasks in humanitarian demining
Promoting effective use of attracted support
High-level dialogue with Partners on humanitarian demining policy
Continuous information exchange between responsible Ukrainian government bodies and Partners
Tasks
- Communicating needs, priorities and objectives in humanitarian demining to Partners
- Coordination of ongoing and planned projects
- Engaging Partners in an advisory role in the development of strategic documents on humanitarian demining
- Informing Partners about results and plans of the Government of Ukraine in this area
- Regular monitoring and analysis of needs and support provided by Partners
- Coordination of joint measures to achieve planned results in accordance with strategic documents on humanitarian demining
Results
The amount of additionally announced Partner support since October 1, 2023 exceeded the equivalent of $100 million USD
Over 40 bilateral meetings have been held with current and potential Partners
Regular monitoring and analysis of Partner support has been ensured
Proposals for long-term cooperation tools have been developed and presented to Partners
Partners provided proposals and recommendations for the draft National Mine Action Strategy of Ukraine
