Humanitarian demining: March 2024 results

Ukraine has a clear vision of how its territories should be demined and is ready to strengthen cooperation with partners for the restoration of de-occupied lands. This was stated by the Director of the Center for Humanitarian Demining Yurii Poliukhovych during the international mine action forum in Dubrovnik.

«We are building a system where every hectare of contaminated land will be returned to safe use. This requires coordination between all actors — government, operators, donors, and international organisations,» he said.

During the forum, the Director presented Ukraine's achievements in the field of humanitarian demining:

Growth in the number of accredited operators. Development of the legal framework. Implementation of an agricultural land clearance compensation programme. Introduction of innovative technologies.

Participants in the Dubrovnik forum included representatives of more than 20 countries as well as leading international mine action organisations. The event provided an opportunity to share experience and discuss best practices in mine clearance.
