200 hectares in the Kharkiv region: demining team successfully cleared the largest single plot
November 25, 2025
The Centre for Humanitarian Demining paid for the first land demining contract, which the farmer cleared at his own expense. It is an agricultural company "Pershe Travnya" ("First of May") in the Kherson region, for which specialists of "Ukroboronservice" cleared an area of over 1,150 hectares in March-April 2023. The cost of such work at that time amounted to almost 6 million hryvnias. Under the terms of the state program to compensate the cost of land demining, the farmer received 80% of this amount – 4.76 million hryvnias.
"To receive compensation for the cost of demining works carried out before April 15, 2024, farmers must provide documents confirming clearance and that it was carried out by certified specialists. Now we have a successful case of 'Pershe Travnya', who collected the necessary documents, applied for participation in the program, and 51 days later, on November 21, the company received 80% of the cost of demining the plot. And additional working capital – means greater resilience for a business that feeds all of Ukraine," emphasized the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravainyi.
The plot for which the agricultural company "Pershe Travnya" received compensation is located in the Beryslav district of the Kherson region. Mainly grains or oil crops are grown there. During the Russian offensive in 2022, part of these lands was affected by military actions, and a significant amount of equipment and livestock complexes were damaged or destroyed as a result of shelling.
"We have an example of high-quality interaction of our specialists with the farmer, the Mine Action Centre, the State Land Cadastre, and the State Tax Service of Ukraine, thanks to which we were able to obtain all the necessary documents to pay compensation for demining carried out more than two years ago," noted the Director of the Centre for Humanitarian Demining Volodymyr Baida.
The state program to compensate the cost of demining agricultural land allows farmers who plan to demine farmland to receive 100% of the cost of humanitarian demining. For farmers who demined their plots between February 24, 2022, and April 15, 2024, compensation amounts to 80% of the cost of humanitarian demining.
To participate in the program, farmers must apply through the State Agrarian Register.
Individuals or self-employed persons in the agricultural sector can also use the program to compensate humanitarian demining expenses. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine recently adopted the corresponding amendments.
