Machines for humanitarian demining can be certified by accredited bodies regardless of ownership form. The Government has adopted a decision that allows both state-owned and private accredited bodies to certify demining equipment.
"This decision removes unnecessary restrictions and opens certification to qualified private-sector organisations. It will increase the certification capacity and reduce waiting times for manufacturers," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
Previously, certification was limited to state-owned testing bodies, which created bottlenecks due to limited capacity. Now, accredited private laboratories and testing centres can also perform certification of demining machines.
"The key requirement is accreditation — any body that meets the accreditation standards can perform certification, regardless of ownership form. This ensures that quality standards are maintained while increasing overall capacity," explained the Ministry representative.
The decision will particularly benefit Ukrainian manufacturers who are developing new demining machines and need faster access to certification.
"More certification capacity means faster time-to-market for new machines. This is especially important given the dynamic development of the Ukrainian demining equipment industry," emphasised the Deputy Minister.
The decision is aligned with broader regulatory reform aimed at removing barriers to the development of the mine action sector.
