Working group on mine action standards held its regular meeting

A competition has been announced for the creation of a register of probably contaminated territories. The register will become a centralised database containing information on all territories in Ukraine that are probably or confirmed to be contaminated with explosive ordnance.

"The register of probably contaminated territories is a fundamental element of the mine action system. It will enable effective planning and coordination of all demining operations, ensuring that resources are directed where they are most needed," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The competition is being conducted through the Prozorro system and is open to Ukrainian and international technology companies and consortia. The register must meet high requirements for data security, accuracy, and usability.

"The register must integrate data from multiple sources — satellite imagery, non-technical survey results, field reports, historical data — and provide a unified analytical platform for all participants in the mine action system," explained the competition requirements.

The creation of the register is one of the key tasks of the National Mine Action Strategy. It will enable the transition to a data-driven approach in planning and conducting demining operations.

"Modern mine action cannot be efficient without a centralised, digital data management system. The register will be the backbone of our information infrastructure," noted the Deputy Minister.
