Canadian company Global Clearance Solutions created a demining vehicle repair hub in Ukraine

The first qualification centre in Ukraine based on the profession of deminer will operate at Sheriff Demining. The centre will train and certify mine action specialists in accordance with the professional standard.

"The creation of the first qualification centre based on the profession of deminer is a historic step. For the first time in Ukraine, there is a state-recognised institution that can officially train and certify deminers in accordance with national professional standards," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The qualification centre will offer training programmes of different levels — from basic training for newcomers to advanced courses for experienced specialists. All programmes are aligned with the professional standard for the deminer profession, which was recently included in the National Classifier of Professions.

"We have invested significant resources in creating a modern training infrastructure — training grounds, equipment, classrooms. Our goal is for every graduate to be fully prepared for real field work," noted the Sheriff Demining representative.

Graduates of the centre will receive official qualifications recognised at the national level, which opens up opportunities for employment with any certified mine action operator in Ukraine.

"The qualification centre is an important element of the talent pipeline for the mine action sector. It ensures standardised, quality training that meets the needs of the industry," emphasised the Deputy Minister.
