Humanitarian demining results for January

Results of humanitarian demining for January: the monthly summary was presented by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

"January continued the positive trends established last year. Mine action operators continued to clear territories from explosive ordnance despite seasonal weather challenges. The results confirm that our system is working sustainably," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

During January, mine action operators worked in the priority regions — Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Work was carried out on clearing both agricultural land and infrastructure.

"The winter months traditionally present challenges for demining — snow cover, frozen ground, and reduced daylight hours. However, thanks to the increased capacity — more operators, more equipment — the pace of work remains high," noted the Deputy Minister.

Among the key events of the month were the announcement of new auctions within the agricultural land demining compensation programme and progress in the certification of new operators.

"Every month we see progress — both in cleared areas and in sectoral development. New operators are being certified, new equipment is being delivered, and specialists continue their training. The system is functioning and delivering results," summarised Bezkaravainyi.
