10 thousand hectares of agricultural land demined under the state compensation program

Demining in August: hundreds of cleared hectares, vouchers for deminer training, and new types of mine action activities. The monthly summary was presented by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

"August was productive across several fronts: operators cleared hundreds of hectares, the voucher programme for training deminers was expanded, and the Government approved new types of mine action activities that broaden the sector's regulatory framework," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

During the month, mine action operators continued clearing agricultural lands, infrastructure, and residential areas in the most contaminated regions. The pace of work remained high despite the summer heat, which creates additional challenges for sappers.

"The expansion of the voucher programme means that more Ukrainians can obtain the profession of deminer at the state's expense. This is an important mechanism for addressing the shortage of qualified specialists in the sector," noted the Deputy Minister.

The Government's approval of new types of mine action activities formalised several areas of work that had previously lacked clear regulatory definition. This makes the sector more structured and transparent.

August also saw progress in international cooperation — several meetings with partners and donors were held where new commitments for financing humanitarian demining were discussed.
