Croatian experience in mine action: a meeting with a delegation from Croatia and Slovenia took place

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, jointly with the OSCE team and with the support of the European Union, has prepared a comprehensive document on gender issues for mine action operators.

«Gender equality is not only about equal access to work. It is about creating an environment where the contribution of every person, regardless of gender, is valued and utilised to its full potential,» said a Ministry of Economy representative.

The handbook includes recommendations for mine action operators on:

Gender-balanced recruitment and retention policies. Ensuring a safe and inclusive working environment. Collecting gender-disaggregated data for reporting and analysis. Gender-sensitive approaches to explosive ordnance risk education.

The document was developed based on international best practices and the specific features of the mine action sector in Ukraine.

Currently, the share of women among mine action operators in Ukraine is growing. Women work in image analysis, data processing, non-technical survey, and administrative positions.

«We see how the sector is changing. More and more women are choosing mine action as a profession. Our task is to create conditions where they can realise their potential,» the Ministry noted.
