Over 3,000 hectares cleared in October under the state compensation program

This year's acceptance of applications from farmers for participation in the programme for compensating the cost of agricultural land demining has begun. Farmers whose land is contaminated or potentially contaminated with explosive ordnance can submit applications through the State Agrarian Register.

"We are opening a new season of the compensation programme. Farmers whose lands are contaminated with explosive ordnance can submit applications through the State Agrarian Register. The state will compensate 80% of the demining cost," announced Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The application process has been simplified — most of the data is pre-populated from the State Agrarian Register, and the farmer only needs to confirm the information, specify the plot, and sign the application with a digital signature.

"We have taken into account the experience of the previous year and made the process even more convenient. We expect a significant increase in the number of applications this year," noted the Deputy Minister.

Applications are accepted from agricultural producers whose lands are located in de-occupied territories. The fact of contamination must be confirmed by the Mine Action Centre based on the results of a non-technical survey.

"We encourage all farmers with contaminated lands to submit applications. The programme works — it has been proven by the results of the previous year, when thousands of hectares were cleared and returned to productive use," emphasised Bezkaravainyi.
