New demining technologies presented at the international exhibition

Innovative financing of humanitarian demining was discussed at Davos. The topic was raised during the World Economic Forum within the framework of discussions on the recovery of Ukraine.

"At Davos, we presented Ukraine's approach to humanitarian demining as not just a security task but an investment opportunity. Demining of agricultural land directly increases its value and production potential. This creates opportunities for innovative financial instruments," said the representative of the Ukrainian delegation.

Among the instruments discussed: impact investments, where investors finance demining in exchange for a share of the increase in land productivity; social impact bonds; and blended finance mechanisms combining public, private, and donor capital.

"The Ukrainian model of humanitarian demining is unique — it combines state regulation, a transparent procurement system, and active involvement of the private sector. This creates favourable conditions for innovative financing," noted the speaker.

International financial institutions and private investors expressed interest in developing pilot projects in Ukraine. Several meetings were held on the sidelines of the forum with representatives of investment funds and development banks.

"Innovative financing is not an alternative to donor support — it is an addition that can significantly increase the total volume of resources directed to demining. Our task is to create conditions under which private capital can work alongside donor funds," explained the representative.

The discussion at Davos is part of a strategic effort by Ukraine to diversify funding sources for humanitarian demining and ensure sustainable long-term financing.
