Compensation for agricultural land demining: how farmers benefit from the state program

In November, farmers received 25,000 hectares of land cleared of mines and explosive ordnance for use. This was announced by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

"25,000 hectares of cleared agricultural land in November — this is yet another confirmation of the consistently high pace of humanitarian demining. These lands have been returned to farmers who can now safely work them," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The cleared lands are located in the most contaminated regions of Ukraine. Mine action operators continued to increase the pace of clearance, making use of the expanded fleet of demining machines and the growing number of qualified specialists.

"We see stable monthly results that demonstrate the effectiveness of the system we have built. More operators, better coordination, and growing international support — all of these together are delivering results," noted the Minister.

Since the beginning of the year, the total area of demined agricultural land has significantly exceeded the previous year's figures, confirming the positive trajectory.

"We remain committed to our strategic goal and continue to work on expanding capacity. Every cleared hectare is a step towards food security, economic recovery, and the safe return of people to their homes," emphasised Svyrydenko.
