$1.5 million for demining three sites: companies selected to carry out works funded by the 'Step by Step' campaign

The Center for Humanitarian Demining has successfully conducted procurement for the clearance of three sites funded by money accumulated through the «Step by Step» fundraising campaign on the UNITED24 platform. The clearance of the Vysokopillia community in Kherson region, an area near the town of Sumy, and a territory in Chernihiv region is at stake.

The total value of the contracts amounts to approximately USD 1.5 million. The funds were raised through personal donations from Ukrainian and international citizens.

«This is a unique case where funds for demining were raised directly by citizens. It demonstrates a high level of public awareness of the mine contamination problem and a desire to contribute to its resolution,» said Yurii Poliukhovych, Director of the Center for Humanitarian Demining.

It is planned that clearance operations will begin in the near future. The selected operators have the necessary permits and experience in humanitarian demining in Ukraine.

The «Step by Step» campaign was launched on the UNITED24 platform in 2023 and has already raised significant funds for mine action.
