Humanitarian demining results for December
January 7, 2026
Results of humanitarian demining for December: the interim summary was presented by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
"December concluded a year of significant achievements for humanitarian demining. Despite winter conditions, operators continued working, completing the year's programme and preparing for the new season," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
During December, mine action operators continued clearing territories in priority regions. Work focused on completing ongoing projects and preparing for the 2025 season.
"The winter months are used not only for field work but also for planning, training, and preparation. We are actively using this time to increase capacity — training new specialists, certifying new operators, and procuring equipment," noted the Deputy Minister.
The December summary also included a review of the year's key indicators — cleared areas, the number of operators and sappers, the volume of international support, and progress in implementing the National Mine Action Strategy.
"2024 was a year of breakthrough in humanitarian demining. We built a system that works, attracted unprecedented international support, and demonstrated that Ukraine is capable of addressing the demining challenge on a global scale," summarised Bezkaravainyi.
