June 17, 2025
Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravainyi participated in the event «Mine Action: Global Agenda» within the framework of the 20th GLOBSEC Forum held in Prague. During the discussion, he presented Ukraine's experience in building a national mine action system and emphasised the need for strengthening international cooperation.
«Ukraine has the largest mine contamination problem in the world. Our experience in building a mine action system in an ongoing conflict is unique and can serve as a model for other countries,» Bezkaravainyi said.
During his speech, the Deputy Minister highlighted the key achievements:
The number of mine action operators has more than doubled. A state programme compensating 100% of agricultural land demining costs has been launched. Innovative technologies — drones, AI, sensors — are actively being implemented. International support has exceeded USD 1.5 billion.
The GLOBSEC Forum is one of the most influential security forums in Europe, bringing together leaders of governments, international organisations, and the private sector.
«Mine action is not just a humanitarian issue. It is a matter of economic recovery, food security, and the safe return of people to their homes,» Bezkaravainyi emphasised.
