Humanitarian demining: results and events for October. The monthly summary of mine action activities was presented by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
"October was a productive month for humanitarian demining. Operators continued to increase the pace of clearance, and several important events took place that strengthen the sector's development," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
During October, mine action operators cleared significant areas of agricultural and other land. The pace of work continued the positive trend established in previous months thanks to growing operational capacity.
"The highlight of October was the record volume of agricultural land demined — over 24,000 hectares were returned to farmers. This is a significant achievement that brings us closer to our strategic goal," noted the Deputy Minister.
Among other important events of the month: certification of new operators, progress in innovation projects, international meetings with partners, and advancement of the compensation programme.
"Every month adds to our cumulative result. We are building a system that delivers consistently growing results — more cleared land, more people returning to safe territories, more economic activity restored," summarised Bezkaravainyi.
