The Ministry of Economy is beginning preparations for the Conference on Mine Action in Ukraine. The conference will bring together representatives of dozens of countries and international organisations to discuss progress and priorities in humanitarian demining.
"The conference on mine action is the most important annual international event dedicated to the humanitarian demining of Ukraine. We are beginning active preparations to ensure that the event becomes an effective platform for new commitments, exchange of experience, and launch of innovative initiatives," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The conference programme is being developed in close collaboration with international partners. Key topics will include: scaling capacity, innovative technologies, financing mechanisms, integration of mine action with recovery, social inclusion, and gender equality.
"We want to present the progress Ukraine has achieved and the challenges that remain. The conference should be not only a reporting platform but a working event that produces concrete decisions and commitments," explained the Deputy Minister.
The preparatory work includes coordination with partner countries, international organisations, and the private sector. The Ministry is also working on the logistical aspects of the event and the preparation of analytical materials.
The conference continues the tradition established by UMAC in Zagreb (2023), Lausanne (2024), and Tokyo (2025), which have become an important mechanism for coordinating international support for humanitarian demining of Ukraine.
"We want each conference to have an even greater impact — more participants, more commitments, more concrete results. The preparation begins months in advance to ensure this," noted the Deputy Minister.
