Results of humanitarian demining for December 2024

In January, farmers received 640 hectares of land, the demining of which was compensated by the state. This was announced by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

"The state programme for compensating the cost of demining agricultural land continues to deliver results. In January, 640 hectares of cleared land were transferred to farmers. This is land that can now be safely used for agricultural production," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The compensation programme launched by the Government of Ukraine covers 80% of the cost of demining. Farmers submit applications through the State Agrarian Register, after which auctions are held in the Prozorro system, and certified mine action operators perform the clearance.

"This programme is an example of effective cooperation between the state, farmers, and operators. Every month we see results — new hectares of cleared land that return to productive use," noted the Minister.

Since the programme's launch, dozens of auctions have been held, contracts have been signed, and thousands of hectares of agricultural land have been cleared. The programme covers Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and other regions where agricultural land is contaminated with explosive ordnance.

The state budget has allocated 3 billion hryvnias for the compensation programme. The Government plans to expand the programme and attract additional, including international, funding to increase the pace of demining agricultural land.
