Mine contamination data management system being developed with international support

The Ministry of Economy has launched an information portal on mine action. The portal is designed as a centralised source of information on all aspects of mine action in Ukraine — from news and statistics to regulatory documents and operator directories.
"The portal is the main hub for information on humanitarian demining in Ukraine. Here you can find everything — from the latest news and statistics to the list of certified operators and instructions on how to submit an application for demining," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The portal includes several sections: news and events in the mine action sector, statistics on cleared areas and operational capacity, a register of certified operators, regulatory documents and standards, and information for farmers on the compensation programme.
"Transparency and accessibility of information are fundamental principles of our work. The portal makes all information about what is being done in the field of mine action available to anyone — from farmers and community leaders to international partners and the media," noted the Deputy Minister.
The portal was developed with the support of international partners and is available in several languages. It is regularly updated with new information and statistics.
"Information is a powerful tool. When people know about demining programmes, about the risks, about how to act when they encounter explosive ordnance — this saves lives," emphasised Bezkaravainyi.
