Humanitarian demining: May 2024 results

Kyivstar and "Come Back Alive" launched an initiative as part of the "Nam Tut Zhyty" ("We Live Here") 2.0 project that will contribute to demining the country. The initiative involves raising funds through Kyivstar's subscriber donations for the needs of humanitarian demining.

"Demining is a matter of survival for Ukraine. We joined this initiative because we believe that business should be at the forefront of the country's recovery. Every hryvnia contributed by our subscribers brings the moment when Ukraine will be free from mines and explosive ordnance closer," said a Kyivstar representative.

The fundraising mechanism is implemented through a simple SMS donation — Kyivstar subscribers can send an SMS to a short number and donate any amount to humanitarian demining. The funds are accumulated in a special account and directed to the purchase of demining equipment and the training of specialists.

"We are grateful to Kyivstar for the partnership and willingness to mobilise resources for humanitarian demining. Business involvement is critically important — it increases public awareness and attracts additional funding that complements donor and state resources," noted Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The "Come Back Alive" foundation acts as the operator of the collected funds, ensuring their transparent distribution for the needs of the mine action sector. All expenditures are published in open reports.

"Nam Tut Zhyty" is one of the largest Ukrainian fundraising campaigns for humanitarian demining. Since its launch, the campaign has raised hundreds of millions of hryvnias, which have been used for the purchase of demining machines, mine detectors, and personal protective equipment for sappers.
