Ukraine and New Zealand discussed cooperation in mine action

The certification of mine action operators will become simpler: the Government has approved important changes. The changes are aimed at reducing bureaucratic barriers while maintaining high safety standards.

"We have simplified the certification procedure without compromising quality or safety standards. The changes reduce the time required for obtaining certification and eliminate excessive documentation requirements that did not affect the quality of the assessment," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

Among the key changes: the reduction of the list of required documents, the optimisation of the verification procedure timeline, and the introduction of the possibility of submitting certification applications online.

"These changes will allow new operators to begin work faster, which is critically important given the enormous scale of mine contamination. Every day of delay in certification is a day when territory remains dangerous," explained the Deputy Minister.

The certification process remains rigorous — operators must demonstrate the availability of qualified personnel, certified equipment, compliance with safety standards, and insurance for employees. However, the administrative component of the process has been significantly simplified.

"We continue to develop the certification system — the next step will be the full transition to an electronic format through the Diia portal, which will make the process even more convenient and transparent," noted Bezkaravainyi.
