Progress in implementing the National Mine Action Strategy: a two-day workshop was held in Kyiv. The workshop brought together representatives of all key stakeholders to review the progress of strategy implementation and identify challenges that require attention.

"The National Mine Action Strategy contains 57 tasks. At this workshop, we conducted a detailed review of the progress of each task, identified those ahead of schedule, those on track, and those requiring additional attention. The overall picture is positive — the strategy is being implemented consistently and effectively," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

Participants included representatives of the government, international organisations, certified operators, and civil society. Each working group focused on a specific dimension of the strategy — from capacity building to innovation, from social inclusion to financing.

"The workshop format allows for a deep dive into each area. We not only monitored progress but also developed specific recommendations for addressing challenges and accelerating implementation," noted the facilitator.

Among the key findings: the pace of capacity building is ahead of plan, innovation projects are progressing well, the compensation programme is delivering results, and international support continues to grow.

"This regular monitoring mechanism ensures that we stay on track and can quickly adjust our approach when needed. The strategy is a living document, and its implementation is a dynamic process," emphasised the Deputy Minister.

The next review workshop is planned in six months to ensure continuity of monitoring and coordination.
