Ukraine and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) have signed a memorandum on humanitarian demining. The document establishes a framework for cooperation between Ukraine and Japan in the field of mine action.
"Japan is one of our key strategic partners in humanitarian demining. The signing of the memorandum with JICA opens new opportunities for cooperation — from equipment and technology transfers to specialist training and joint innovation projects," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The memorandum provides for cooperation in several key areas: delivery of demining equipment, training of Ukrainian mine action specialists, exchange of experience and best practices, and support for innovation in the demining sector.
"JICA has extensive experience in supporting mine action in different countries around the world. We are committed to sharing this experience with Ukraine and supporting its efforts to clear territories from explosive ordnance," stated the JICA representative.
Japan has been consistently supporting humanitarian demining in Ukraine, providing equipment, funding, and expert support. The signing of the memorandum with JICA brings this cooperation to a new, more systematic level.
The memorandum was signed alongside one of the international events dedicated to humanitarian demining. It is part of a broader trend of deepening bilateral partnerships in the mine action sector.
