The government expanded the state agricultural land demining compensation program to include households

The Government has expanded the state programme for compensating agricultural land demining to include households. This means that not only farmers but also owners of private households can now receive state compensation for the cost of demining their plots.
"We are expanding the programme to include households because mine contamination affects not only fields but also private land plots where people live. It is important that every Ukrainian whose land is contaminated has the opportunity to have it cleared at the state's expense," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
Previously, the compensation programme covered only agricultural land, which limited its scope. The expansion to include households will significantly increase the number of people who can benefit from the programme.
"People in de-occupied territories often return to their homes, not knowing that their plots may be contaminated with explosive ordnance. This programme gives them the opportunity to ensure the safety of their families," explained the Deputy Minister.
The mechanism for obtaining compensation remains similar — an application is submitted, the contamination is confirmed, an operator is selected through the Prozorro system, clearance is performed, and the state compensates the cost. The state compensates 100% of the cost of demining households.
"The expansion of the programme is an important social decision. Security should not depend on whether a person is a farmer or a homeowner. Everyone has the right to live on safe land," emphasised Bezkaravainyi.
