Jerry Heil became Ukraine's humanitarian demining ambassador
October 2, 2025
The singer will support the topic of humanitarian demining, in particular in preparation for the annual international Ukraine Mine Action Conference 2025 (UMAC 2025), which will be held this year in Tokyo, Japan.
Jerry Heil became the official Ambassador of Humanitarian Demining of Ukraine on the initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and the national platform for accelerating demining Demine Ukraine. Thanks to this partnership, the topic of demining, returning the land to safe use, and, in particular, women's participation in the mine action sector will become known to millions of Ukrainians and an international audience.
"Humanitarian demining — is the foundation for restoring the country and returning people home. Thanks to the partnership with Jerry Heil, we will be able to engage in this topic those who are not yet familiar with the scale of the challenges and what Ukraine is already doing to return security via demining. This will definitely help gather more support for Ukraine both domestically and abroad," says Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravainyi.
As part of the partnership, Jerry Heil gets involved in the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) communication campaign, implemented in preparation for the Ukraine Mine Action Conference 2025, to be held this year in Tokyo. The campaign is realized alongside the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
"Music — is a universal language that makes the complex simple and understandable for everyone, irrespective of borders. As a representative of Ukrainian music, it's vital for me that what I love the most benefits those I love the most. Because why sow what won't grow? Today, I want to deploy the power of my music to speak about those who, risking their lives every day, make the Ukrainian land safe — for our freedom and a future filled with warm memories. Together, we are preparing something that will be another step in this direction," says Jerry Heil.
As an ambassador, Jerry Heil will talk about the mine threat and efforts to clear Ukrainian land from mines and explosive ordnance both in Ukraine and on international platforms.
On October 22-23, Tokyo will host the Ukraine Mine Action Conference 2025 (UMAC 2025) — the leading global platform for discussing humanitarian demining issues. This year, the conference is co-organized by the governments of Ukraine and Japan.
The event will bring together over 300 participants, including representatives from international partners and international organizations at a high political level, global and national operators, non-governmental organizations, and businesses. The primary goal of the conference is to coordinate joint actions helping to accelerate the clearance of Ukrainian land and ensure its safe use for people's lives, agricultural development, and economic recovery, as well as to collaborate with other mine-affected countries to unitedly address the global mining problem.
