Ukraine adopted a state standard for the use of mechanized demining equipment

A state standard on the use of mechanised demining means has been adopted in Ukraine. The standard establishes requirements and procedures for the use of heavy demining machines and other mechanised equipment in humanitarian demining.

"The adoption of the state standard is an important step in regulating the use of mechanised demining equipment. The standard defines requirements for equipment, operators, and procedures that ensure safety and efficiency of work," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The standard covers all types of mechanised demining equipment — from heavy flail machines to small remotely operated platforms. It establishes requirements for certification, maintenance, operator training, and safety protocols.

"Standardisation ensures that all equipment used for demining in Ukraine meets uniform quality and safety requirements, regardless of the manufacturer or country of origin," explained the standards specialist.

The standard was developed with the participation of international experts and takes into account the best global practices in the field of mechanised demining. It is aligned with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).

"This standard fills a regulatory gap and provides operators with clear guidelines on how to use mechanised equipment correctly and safely. It also simplifies certification and procurement processes," emphasised the Deputy Minister.
