€6 million for demining: Italy announced a grant competition for clearing Ukrainian land

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) has announced a grant competition for land clearance from mines and other remnants of war in frontline regions. Projects should be aimed at non-technical survey, technical survey, and clearance of explosive ordnance in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, and Chernihiv regions.

The total budget of the competition is EUR 6 million. Projects can be submitted by international non-governmental organisations with experience in mine action.

«Italy has been consistently supporting Ukraine's demining efforts. This new grant competition will enable additional land areas to be cleared and returned to safe use by communities,» noted AICS representatives.

The selected projects must comply with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and national legislation of Ukraine in the field of mine action.

Italy is one of the key partners of Ukraine in the mine action sector. Previously, Italy provided funding for demining projects in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions.
