Humanitarian demining: February results

Humanitarian demining in February: cleared agricultural land in Kharkiv and new services on the market. The monthly summary highlighted key developments in the mine action sector.

"February produced solid results despite winter conditions. Operators cleared significant areas of agricultural land in Kharkiv region, and we saw the emergence of new types of services on the demining market," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The Kharkiv clearance was significant both in scale and in the complexity of conditions — the region remains one of the most contaminated and challenging to work in due to ongoing security threats.

"New services emerging on the market — such as specialised vegetation clearing, emergency route clearance, and integrated survey-clearance packages — demonstrate the maturation and diversification of the sector," noted the Deputy Minister.

The development of new service types reflects the growing sophistication of the mine action market, where operators are responding to diverse needs with tailored solutions.

"A diverse and competitive market for demining services is exactly what we aimed to create. When operators innovate and offer new services, the entire sector benefits," emphasised Bezkaravainyi.
