Participating countries of the Ukraine Recovery Conference have additionally allocated over 40 million US dollars to support humanitarian demining in Ukraine. The new commitments were announced during the conference and complement previously allocated funding.
"Over 40 million dollars in additional funding for humanitarian demining — this is a powerful signal of the international community's commitment to supporting Ukraine's mine action efforts. These funds will significantly strengthen our capacity in the coming period," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The funds were committed by several partner countries and will be directed to various areas: purchasing demining equipment, training specialists, supporting the agricultural land compensation programme, and developing innovative technologies.
"The Ukraine Recovery Conference demonstrated that the international community views humanitarian demining as an integral part of Ukraine's recovery. Without safe land, no recovery is possible," noted the conference participant.
The new commitments bring the total volume of international support for humanitarian demining to significant sums, making Ukraine one of the best-funded mine action programmes in the world.
"We are grateful to our partners for their consistent and growing support. We will ensure that every dollar is used efficiently and produces maximum results," emphasised the Deputy Minister.
