Over 1,500,000 dollars for demining: the United24 platform's "Step by Step" fundraising campaign has been closed. The collected funds will be directed to clearing critical infrastructure and social facilities in the most contaminated regions of Ukraine.
"The result speaks for itself — more than one and a half million dollars collected from people around the world who care about making Ukraine safe. These funds will be used for the clearance of specific facilities — schools, hospitals, roads — in Kharkiv, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The "Step by Step" campaign was launched jointly by the United24 platform and the Ministry of Economy. It ran for several months, attracting donations from thousands of people from dozens of countries.
"This campaign demonstrated that people around the world understand the importance of humanitarian demining and are ready to contribute personally. Every donation, regardless of its size, brings the moment when Ukrainian land will be free from mines and explosive ordnance closer," noted the United24 representative.
The raised funds will be used to hire certified mine action operators who will carry out clearance work at the designated facilities. The work will be supervised by the Centre for Humanitarian Demining to ensure compliance with international standards.
All donors will be able to track how their funds are used through transparent reporting on the United24 platform.
